Its main objective is to identify environmental issues and raise awareness\namong people and governments of the need to participate in conserving and\nprotecting the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, we are facing new challenges that directly\ninfluence our food and compromise our food security: climate change, food\nwaste, overexploitation of resources, pollutants, superbugs&#8230;. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the kitchen, we can be very active in caring for\nthe environment with simple actions that will allow us to be more sustainable\nand reduce the environmental impact in our homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sustainability actions in our homes:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Avoid food waste:<\/strong> 50% of food is wasted in household kitchens.\nTherefore, we are the ones who must pay attention to the way we conserve our\nfood to avoid wasting it and improve its utilization.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Incorporate practices for proper recycling and\nenvironmental care<\/strong>:<ul><li>Remember\nto apply a correct separation of waste for recycling. To do this, we must be\nvery clear about what we are separating and where each product should be\ndeposited.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Pay\nattention to the expiration dates of food to consume first those that are about\nto expire.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Serve\nthe right amount of food we are going to eat to avoid food wastage.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Try to\nbuy food with a long shelf life, but without hoarding.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Create\nnew and varied dishes to make the best use of food and thus avoid waste\n(Trashcooking).<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Implement the 3 &#8220;R&#8217;s&#8221; of ecology: Reduce,\nreuse and recycle:<\/strong><ul><li><strong>Reduce<\/strong> the consumption of products to help conserve natural\nresources and reduce environmental pollution.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li><strong>Reuse<\/strong> products that you want to throw away, i.e., consider\nwhether they are still in good condition and be able to use them again.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li><strong>Recycle<\/strong> some waste materials that can be processed to make\nother products, helping to pollute less and give another use to waste\nmaterials.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Install a vertical vegetable garden<\/strong>: a sustainable solution to take advantage of natural\nresources, promote self-consumption, reduce carbon emissions and the\ntemperature of the environment, reduce electricity costs, improve air\nquality&#8230;..<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Today, more than ever, it is clear that we are the\npeople who can help or harm the environment and our health through our actions.\nLet&#8217;s incorporate these actions into our daily lives and help take care of the\nplanet!<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>World Environmental Education Day is celebrated on January 26.
